Those Who Tried To Stop Hitler

Our hostel was within walking distance to so many historic spots in Berlin.

These pieces of slate memorialize the people who could have and tried to stop Hitler at the beginning.  For their efforts, they were killed, usually in concentration camps.
They all worked in the Reichstag building next to this memorial.
They were the equivalent of their members of congress.
96 people in total, who didn't agree with Hitler's politics and became the first victims of the Nazi reign.

This building is the Reichstag.
The Parliament building with an incredible dome on the very top that you can climb.
It is a massive building and dominates the square.

This is where the last stand took place during the defeat of the Nazi's during the end of WWII.
More than 1500 Nazi soldiers fought the Red Army (Russia) extending the war by two days.
They were defeated and the Nazi's reign of terror was finally over.

These pretzel makers are often near the big tourist spots.
And these people brought cheese pretzels......oh yeah....I shared with Deb too.
