Prior to the reunification of East and West Berlin, the East side had these originally wee cartoonish little men for the stop and go walk signs.
After the 'Wall' came down the city wanted to standardize the lights throughout with the more modern lights. East Berliners said no.
After a 10 year court battle.....the Eastern Berliners won out and kept their little Red and Green Men.
