Many trains head from Cadiz through to Sevilla....and most of those will stop in Jerez.
They have a spectacular train station....housed in a traditional Spanish style building.
Everywhere you look...monuments and green space.
Christmas tree bookended by palm trees....I love the irony.
Pedestrian only street in Jerez.
Sandeman Sherry Shop and Distillery.
Deb and I, even though we do not drink, decided we would like to tour one of the Sherry Distilleries in Jerez, which is known worldwide for their amazing Sherry,
Even Sandeman Distillery is ready for Christmas with this lovely poinsettia.
Sandeman Distillery and Sherry Shop has been in business producing Sherry in Jerez, Spain for over 200 years.
This black and white photo I took shows the number '11' which is the year, 2011, this batch of Sherry was barrelled. Also the little white cap on top is the access hole to the Sherry.
They ONLY use these three kinds of grapes found in this area in many, many acres of local vineyards they own, operate and manage.
Only the 'youngest' barrels of Sherry are located in this Sandeman site.
Famous people have visited and they have signed some of the barrels. One such visitor was Antonio Banderas and his family.
Now for the taste testing.....'Little Debbie take your position.'
Mine is the tall apple juice.
Chips and olives stuffed with anchovies to snack on.
Only white grapes are used for making this Sherry...the results are a light, amber and 'cream' sherry.
It takes four years, from picking the grapes off the vine to bottling, to produce this Sherry.
.....and she's about to try. A few sips of each...she likes the medium amber one the best.
.....and she's down. LD doesn't drink so she did admit that she got a buzz from the little amount she drank.
Our guide was incredible and full of interesting and informative knowledge about this product.
Oh yeah...we did get to dress up with the cape and hat.
"I am Zorro!!!"
As much as I would love to bring some home.....for gifts.....I instead decided to purchase Sherry Vinegar from this distillery as Deb and I have been loving olive oil and balsamic vinegar on tomatoes or ever salad.
That was fun day and I would truly recommend it.
